About the location

Just three miles from the vibrant market town of Devizes, near the northern edge of Salisbury Plain, Worton enjoys the perfect blend of peaceful, rural charm with the modern convenience of proximity to essential services and extensive amenities.

The M4 and the A303 provide great links to London and the south west. Rail services available from nearby stations in Westbury, Melksham and Chippenham provide direct routes to London, Bristol, Bath and the South West. Both road and rail networks make Worton a great location for commuters and day-trippers alike.

The village is home to Five Lanes Primary School, offering quality education within walking distance for young families. A wider selection of well-regarded public and private schools can be found in the surrounding area catering to all age groups.

Immersed in an interesting wealth of local history, Worton is only a short drive from the world-renowned prehistoric landmarks of Stonehenge and Avebury, both designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The local area also features the iconic chalk hill White Horse carvings and the National Trust site at Lacock Abbey, made famous for having appeared in several of the Harry Potter films.

The immediate surrounding Wiltshire countryside is no less impressive, with its endless scenic walks and wide-open spaces, popular with nature lovers, whether on foot, horseback or trail bike. The country lanes are also favoured by those with a road bike and the Westbury Wheelers club has become a firmly established part of the local cycling scene.

Just a few miles away, the Kennet and Avon canal winds serenely through the landscape and is perfect for boating or simply soaking up the slower pace of life.

The traditional Rose & Crown is a popular meeting point to eat and drink for residents and visitors alike. Foodies are also spoilt for choice with farm shops, cafés and country pubs found in many of the surrounding villages. Devizes provides a lively array of bars and restaurants and also boasts a full programme of diverse entertainment at The Wharf Theatre. During the exceptional Devizes Arts Festival, a wonderful mix of music, drama, literature and comedy comes to town.

With scenic countryside, a close-knit village vibe, active community and modern connectivity, Worton is an ideal place to call home.
